Your Guide to Claiming Your Share of State Farm’s $5 Billion Payout

State Farm is returning $5 billion to eligible drivers across the country through a historic one-time cash dividend.

Because State Farm operates as a mutual insurance company, strong underwriting performance in 2025 allows it to pass excess profits directly back to policyholders.
 

Who Qualifies for the Cash Back?


You qualify if you had an active personal auto insurance policy with State Farm Mutual at any point between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2025.

Crucially, you do not need to be a current customer to receive money, as long as your calculated refund reaches at least $10.
 

How Much Money Can You Expect?


While payouts average around $100 per insured vehicle, individual check amounts are not fixed.

Your check will range between 4% and 10% of the total premiums you paid in 2025, depending on the specific formula applied to your state.

 

When and How You Will Get Paid


You do not need to fill out a lengthy application or request your payment manually.

If State Farm has your email on file, you will receive an invitation from donotreply@e.sfdividend.com directing you to select a payout option via digital transfer or mail.

Drivers without an email on file will automatically receive a paper check sent to their address on record.

Because distributions are rolled out state by state across 49 million vehicles, payments are expected to continue over several months.


Staying Safe Against Potential Scams

With such a widespread distribution, state regulators urge drivers to stay vigilant against phishing scams.

State Farm will never ask you to pay a fee or request online banking passwords to release your dividend.
